Having read a lot about Iratoma before arriving we didn’t know quite what to expect. The resort itself exceeded expectations - unrestricted use of a la carte meals (available breakfast, lunch and dinner), good alcoholic drink selection (including cocktails), and comfortable accommodation (we had a bungalow). We particularly enjoyed the modern facilities available in the new reception building (modern bar and amazing pool).
Service, in general, is an area for improvement, with the exception of three star servers who were consistently attentive and warm, going above and beyond to cater for our needs - Kellys and Rita at the new pool bar, and Mary at the breakfast buffet. The hotel would greatly benefit from having these ladies train other members of customer facing staff.
Only two members of staff (at front desk) spoke English. This was sometimes problematic, but we mostly managed to muddle through with the google translate tool!
As mentioned above, having stayed in a number of other all inclusive properties, we were surprised that we were free to use the a la carte restaurants freely. That said, the menus didn’t change which was a little monotonous towards the end of the trip! Note that the restaurants are spread across the sprawling site, meaning that it is a short walk / hotel transport to some of the restaurants.
In general, we would strongly recommend this hotel, particularly if you can get a bargain rate!
