Overview

Hotel Galini is located at Agios Ioannis beach, which is one of the quiet resorts on the island and was famously the setting for Shirley Valentine. The hotel is three stars and is more affordable than some of the luxury hotels in the more popular resort areas. For those who can forego five star luxury, Hotel Galini is charming, friendly and perfectly comfortable.

For those who prefer quieter places in nature to packed busy resorts, Papa Nero beach is nearby, which is a wide stretch of golden sand. Damouhari Beach is also a short walk away — this is where parts of “Mama Mia” were filmed. Pelion Forest is close by.

The hotel can accommodate small families, as the rooms only go up to triple-sized (three beds). The family-run Hotel Galini has free Wi-Fi, a pool, a whirlpool, a lounge cafe, a restaurant and free parking. They offer boat, bicycle, car and scooter hire and there are daily sightseeing excursions.

Hidden jem in popular part of Pelio

by AmazingGreece2019

My friend recommended the hotel and my husband and I are so thankful!! This botique family hotel is lovely and a real serenity. Even the moderate room grew on me and took me back in time! It’s a hidden jem in the busy Agios Ioannis. The service and hotel amenities include cozy lounge area just as cozy as being home, breakfast in the front balcony, pool with bar and light menu ( we had lunch by the pool) and an amazing meals at the best looking romantic in town.. Galini Garden Restaurant. My husband and I started the evening with a cocktails sitting on the couch as the sun set while jazz played and then moved to a romantic table where we had the most amazing dinner cooked by Chef Panayotis. The host Socrates (who recommended the wine with dinner) and his parents are grade A classy and know how to make their guests feel special. Even if you don’t stay at the hotel the restaurant is a must. The prices are about the same as you do pay at any traditional Greek resturant but the quality of the unique gourmet appetizers and entrees are way way better! I wish we had dinnner then every night. We are definitely going back.

Beautiful hotel set in a garden with swimming pool near beach front

We have visited this hotel several times as day visitors and it’s often fully booked yet the host, Socrates, always welcomes us with open arms. Drinks by the pool are a lovely way to spend the day - cocktails are superb! Always served with a smile.

We had dinner last night and it was magical, with twinkling fairy lights decorating the palm trees above. Socrates made recommendations and served us some additional surprises, such as fresh chanterelles, as a gift. Everything was perfect . Delicious food and wine, great service, charming ambience.

Excellent in every way!
