We were at the Don Pelayo Pacific Beach March 8 - 15 / 2019. My wife and I were looking for a last minute getaway and we have always liked Mazatlan. The deal to the Don Pelayo was cheap and we liked the location so we booked with Sunwing. The check in experience was pretty good in relation to Mexican check ins. The girl at the front desk spoke good english and was pleasant and helpful. Our room was a junior suite facing the Malecon. The rooms are older but ours was very clean and had a small fridge, hot plate and a microwave. The beds were very comfortable and clean. We only ate one meal there and it was okay, service wasn't great but it was busy. The location is pretty good, close to the beach and within walking distance of lots of places to eat and get groceries. The pool area is okay for kids but we preferred going across the street to the beach which was virtually empty!
Overall for the price we were more than happy with our experience and would definitley go back. Take ear plugs though if you are in a room facing the street as it can be quite noisy, especially on the weekends.

Don pelayo was an excellent hotel. Kinda far from the gold zone but beautiful sun sets, close to the malecon. Not many spoke English at the resort but it is Mexico. Those that did speak English were very helpful. U can exchange money ar the front counter. The restaurant was awesome to get up and go for coffee. The rooms were clean comfortable beds, nice pillows.
