Hearth ‘n Kettle, known locally as H&K, is an excellent mini-chain of restaurants specializing in traditional diner-style American food. Excellent breakfasts come complete with the typical bacon, eggs, sausage, ham, etc., along with more modern dishes like organic egg white frittata and the Portuguese skillet (a Portuguese sweet muffin, with linguica, pepper and onion scrambler, topped with pepper jack cheese and served with salsa and sour cream). Lunch and dinner are equally appetizing, with mouth watering fish and chips, shrimp scampi, chicken parmesan and even meatloaf and mashed potatoes. H&K also offers an excellent gluten-free menu, which offers dishes like a Florentine omelet (fresh baby spinach, tomatoes, Kalamata olives and feta cheese) and Cape Scrod (North Atlantic haddock poached with garlic herb butter). The kids’ menu is also very popular, offering the typical fare of macaroni ‘n cheese, pasta ‘n meatballs, chicken fingers ‘n fries and even a roast turkey dinner.
