We’ve been staying in Sea Club Maayafushi resort (Francorosso) 11-18 June 2018. In Male we arrived with Neos charter flight from Fiumicino, then the speed boat took us to resort (about 1 hour of sea voyage). Time difference with Italy is 4 hours (with Male - 3 hours).
An island is a small paradise, you need just 10 minutes to walk it around.
Our villa was very nice with patio and Maldivian shower. It’s cleaned twice a day and they changed towels every day (in general cleanliness is their distinguished feature). Meal in the restaurant was great, with lots of fish and meat dishes, also pasta, vegetables, fruit, salads and desserts.

The weather varied, always cloudy in the morning, with rain at least once a day (30-45 minutes or quick showers or once all night long), but after the rain everything dries out very quickly. The heat was quite strong in the cloudless days, not to mention very high humidity in addition. We’ve been told that from January till April the scorching heat here can bake you till the bones, so if you tolerate sun not in a perfect way maybe better to consider less hot period, like we did.

The reef is long and nice, you can snorkel for hours watching numerous fish, reef sharks, even manta rays and turtle.
The diving center provides tours to other islands as well as in Maayafushi itself (for example night snorkeling near the pier of the resort).

One of the principal arguments for choosing Maayafushi (in addition to the price) was that this place is not children-oriented, we saw few children that caused no disturbance at all.
Animation is light, you can play sports (volleyball, football), take a lesson of windsurfing for free.
After dinner you can spend time in the bar with live music, at 22:30 night shows start.
Attention: No free wifi, even in public areas, we paid 46 usd/person for a week access to net. Be ready to pay extra taxes and green tax. Price for coffee (espresso) 3,5usd :) All expenses are located to your room account (no cash payments), the final bill is payable upon check-out in usd/eur or cards.

We enjoyed our stay very much, that’s not luxury resort but we can highly recommend it for vacation.

Maayafushi is a little slice of paradise. The island itself is absolute perfection because the house reef is reachable without needing a boat (very important in the Maldives) and it is situated in the North Atoll, perfect for February when the currents are changing meaning that the 'big' fish are passing through those currents: reef sharks, mantas, eagle rays, tuna etc..
In terms of the resort. It is of course Italian, so you must be aware of that. The food is mainly Italian, and to be honest, not bad at all considering the ingredients and chef aren't Italian. Lets say that you certainly won't die of starvation!
The animation/entertainment is kept very low key which I personally really enjoy as I am on holiday to relax and not be interrupted every two seconds.
We had beach bungalow 59 and it was perfect, clean, cool, working shower etc. It gets cleaned twice a day of any sand that made it's way in.
Note the resort doesn't encourage shoes so only bring flip flops, unless you want to feel a little silly!
The staff are wonderful: big shout out to Mario and Enrique from the dive centre, and to Jallal from the bar.
The diving/snorkeling equipment isn't he newest so you might prefer to bring your own. The excursions are limited, but still good, otherwise the house reef will allow you to see everything you want. We saw: an abundance of white tip and black tip sharks, turtles, eagle rays, nurse sharks, mantas, all the possible tropical fish that they Maldives offer and also big tunas.
I would recommend this island to everyone but not if you are expecting a 5* luxury stay as this isn't it. Remember that for the Maldives, Maayafushi is not expensive!
