My wife and I recently stayed for 10 days for our honeymoon/1st year anniversary. Regardless of what the manager or who ever replies to this says, take it with a pinch of salt as it would be a load of Bull!!!!
Firstly we were not upgraded for our room and if we were I would hate to think what the other room would be like as it was very basic, ground floor with a view of some trees and the games room window.
Buffet food was not great, lamb always overcooked, other meats sometimes overcooked. Pasta everyday and the bolognase sauce was more watery than sauce. Their themed events could have a much better decoration, as it was effortless. Mauritian night hardly had any traditional mauritian food and oceanic night hardly had any seafood. Breakfast buffet was better.
Admittedly, they did fold our towels into a swan shape and later in the evening a lobster, and did sing a song "happy birthday and joyeux anniversaire" for our anniversary dinner as well as a small cake. However there was no bottle of wine or any beverages given to us. We were given 2 hotel t-shirts but a mention of other "freebees" were not true and nonexistent. We bought our own cocktails despite other couples being given free cocktails for their birthdays.
Level of service seemed to drop after we completed our survey questionnaire after 7 days and we were even forgotten about for a drink with our dinner until we had finished our meal, at least that saved us some money. Tea and coffee was supposed to be free inour rooms yet stated on the drinks menu for the room that there was a fee. Water in the room was not complimentary which is the first hotel I have ever been in worldwide that has not offered complimentary water when they say not to drink or swallow the local water. Prices I feel were extortionate!! $8 for 1 cup of tea!!
Overall it was my first visit to Mauritius and it is a beautiful country, luckily my wife's family lived there and was able to show me traditional local cuisine and entertainment as you won't get a true reflection of it at the hotel.
We saved a whole year for this holiday to celebrate and have been left totally disappointed and wished we had chosen a different hotel.
