Very disappointing stay here starting from a downgrade of the room during the first night, which was already announced to us a couple of weeks before. Seem that we get at least the difference refunded for the cheaper room. But only after we asked several times for that.
First room was ok at first look, but had a strange smell after a few hours. Next day we had to pack everything to get moved to the new room. We were told to get out of the old room by 10:30 and the new room and luggage would be ready at 11:30. After 3 reception calls the luggage arrived at around 14:00.
The itself is good and as promised besides some minor things like a broken door lock. Very annoying when you need more than 1 minute for opening the door. Housekeeping turns of the airconditioning every day in this room.
Drinks and Minibar: The hotel is trying to ban any drinks from outside the facility. Only buying drinks from the minibar is allowed. They tell you that prices where same as in the stores. However the store directly in front of the hotel is way cheaper.
Food: Every day there is breakfast and dining buffet for the halfboard customers. In the morning you have to fight with the birds for bread and in the evening almost anything on the buffet is already cold. Taste in both cases is ok in general. Nothing special.
In the booking policy of the hotel it is mentioned that you would get a bottle of sparkling wine and a better table once during dinner, if you are on honeymoon. The table was granted, not the sparkling wine. Even not when asking for that.
The Hotel itself in general is ok. WIFI takes often ages to connect. The slow speed is expected on such islands.

La Digue lodge has nice grounds & beach, and the chalet concept is nice, but the room interior is disappointing. The chalet is a decent size & it’s nice having space, not being in a main complex. But it’s very dated inside, very basic. Perhaps some of chalets have been refurbished? Ours hadn’t been however. The bathroom was nice but the main room was dated, uncomfortable, and clearly not particularly well kept. The bed was not comfortable, the pillows and mattress had seen better days and I did not have a particularly good nights sleep. The air conditioning was not very powerful and quite an old unit, blowing directly into the bed.
Organisation seems a bit chaotic, it felt like they lost our booking, so even after arriving long after check in time we were still made to wait for about an hour while they made up our room.
The restaurant is called “Marmite”. I didn’t love it. The dining space is right by the beach, peaceful & a nice view. The buffet meal included in the half board is very limited, arrive late to the buffet at your peril, there won’t be much left. The quality of the food was generic. Breakfast also generic.
Very very expensive for what it is.
