Months in advance, I had read a lot of TripAdvisor reviews of properties in Seychelles (some positive and some negative) before finally choosing DoubleTree Allamanda. Bear in mind while perusing these reviews, no property is 100% perfect and you should weigh every positive (excellent or v. good) or negative (poor or bad) comment to ascertain what is most important to you. What decided it for me was the cleanliness, private beachfront (if you prefer a crowded public beach then Beau Vallon beach on the northwest coast would suit you better) and jacuzzi on the balcony which the property has. Seychelles is relatively more expensive than other African honeymoon destinations, so be prepared.
The room was decorated with petals for our honeymoon before our arrival and we were welcomed with a complimentary platter of exotic fruits. My wife's birthday was also celebrated with a surprise candlelight dinner, flowers and a rich cake, all arranged by the staff at no extra costs.
The staff were very helpful in arranging a romantic day visit to Hotel Labriz, kayaking, snorkeling, relatively affordable taxi and a day's tour of the other islands (La Digue and Praslin). Special commendations to Doreen, Rania and Annabelle - you guys were awesome and I would certainly stay here again in my next visit to Seychelles.
