The hotel is very nicely done in a traditional style. We had a very early flight and access to our room was many hours away which was disappointing as we were both very tired. It surprised us (being there in October) that there was no room ready as it was out of season.
We had booked a Junior Suite with a garden view, which was in fact on the ground floor. The view was very disappointing as it was the very last room of the hotel, and the 'garden' was patchy grass with a high fence of reeds so there was no view in reality. Hey ho, in the main it's just a place to sleep, but was not nice enough to sit on the balcony.
The staff were excellent and very friendly but we did encounter some issues. Upon unpacking our cases, we had water dripping through the ceiling area, which on tiles was very slippery. We called reception and someone arrived about 20 mins later to establish the cause. It turned out to be the air con, which was fixed for us. However, we then opened the drinks fridge and found that it was not working and there was water leaking out of the fridge also. We contacted the reception twice on this matter as the first fix did not work and the same problem arose again.
We found that the thermostat appeared to be not functioning very well as it was often either freezing us or not cooling at all.
Bottom line is that our room must have been something like a 'spare' just in case it was needed, which I suspect they had given us because we chased up access to our room.
We became a little deflated with the issues in our room, so my OH spoke to the manager just before our second week. He raised our disappointment with the faults that we had with our room and they did offer us another room. They showed us the room, which was of a lower grade, but had a view over the pool (inward facing) which was much more pleasant than or previous room.
Staff were always very helpful and friendly.
Food was OK - I would not say great but adequately edible, and was included in our booking. To eat in the hotel was in our view expensive, especially as the hotel promotes the fact that they have 6 restaurants on site. What we were not aware of however, is that that each evening there is only one restaurant open, with a rotation amongst the 6 themes. We chose to eat out in town which offers many options of food type and cost. The hotel is a bus/taxi/rental car away from Correlate town but very diverse and very enjoyable.
I want to let you know also, that the beach at this hotel is very narrow and unless you are careful, the sea is not easy to get into. The photos you see when choosing your hotel, are in my view misleading, in as much that you don't wander into the sea on a totally sandy golden beach. The sand ends and then there is a small 'bay' surrounded with lava. YES - we know the island is volcanic and YES we knew almost the entire island is like this BUT the hotels images are either photo shopped or there has been dreadful erosion since the photos were taken.

THAT said - there is the most beautiful beach a short way away (by car) to the GRANDES PLAYAS which we used in our second week.
We will go back, but not to this hotel - it is not cheap, and we ended up using alternative beaches and restaurants.
The weather was perfect too btw!
