This place was a huge let down.
There was no office for check-in and it took about 15 minutes before some guy came out from across the street.
The place was clean but there were signs everywhere with threats of fines....I think Anthony from Hotel Impossible needs to come here!
Upon arrival into the cabin it was ice cold. We were in cabin 29 and supposedly it was built just 10 years ago? If so why were the heaters so inadequate? The problem was the little wall electric heaters did not get the place warm and shut themselves off and would not start again.
We were warned not to use any of the "real firewood stacked up in the back yard" in the wood stove but were only given 3 presto logs for a 2 night stay. Our original plans were to go hiking but with the 50 mile an hour winds and snow/rain we could not do that. Needless to say we quickly ran out of logs the first night and were forced to go to town and buy some more.
We would have canceled this trip several days before when we heard of the upcoming storm but sadly there were no cancelations allowed here. This was not an inexpensive place either.
When we got back to the cabin the last evening it was dark and there was not adequate lighting where we had to park. The place we were supposed to park was out at the road which was a distance from the cabin. My husband tripped as he picked up the 3 pack of presto logs and fell with those logs impaling him in the chest.
He was hurt pretty bad and only today starting to feel better.
I have to say this was not a do again. The only reason we came here for our anniversary was that Elkins was full due to a wedding. Elkins in Priest Lake supply you with piles of real wood each day and there are no signs with threats of fines posted all over.
Seriously if they don't want you to use the real wood they need to provide enough presto logs for the entire stay........
