Visit number 6 to PCV. Need I say more? Second time this year. Quite simply, we continue to visit Playa Costa Verde because we are made to feel most welcome there. The many staff we have become friends with greet us us with "welcome back to your Cuban home". This trip was wonderful as always The staff were their friendly selves, happy to see us again. Certainly, being a return guest has advantages like the VIP dinner but, first time visitors commented to me how much they enjoyed themselves.
This trip, I found the food so much better than the last. I enjoyed everything. One thing you have to know about Cuba, they seem to be short of something every day. It's just the way things are there so don't get bent out of shape. Regulars and staff all say the same thing, "it's Cuba". It's not a big deal.
This trip I noticed many Russians for the first time Language was an issue for sure and it's hard to tell if they enjoy themselves I'm sure they do and it would be no fault of the staff or resort if they don't. Since Thomas Cooke went under, there were no British or Europeans to speak of. We did meet a nice young couple from Holland but that was it. The absence of that group of visitors really shows and is hard for business. I also noticed a distinct lack of tipping which always bothers me. Tips are important to the staff and most appreciated. C'mon folks, a coin or two when you get a drink or served in the a la carte restaurants won't break your bank. I tip for everything, every time. At the end of the week, it might cost me $50.
Hiring local drivers for excursions is also a great deal. Old cars and really nice, informative drivers. Usually a staff member can recommend someone. There's plenty to see and explore in the area.
Little gifts for the room staff is customary. Personal products are always appreciated and shared with other staff. Most items are expensive to buy in Cuba so everything helps.

First trip to Cuba, so decided on an all inclusive. Looked lovely on arrival and our Thomson rep Daniel was very nice.
Rooms are dated but clean - with some english tv channels.
The resort is nice, huge pool and lots of sun loungers.
The restaurants were ok. Too hot to eat loads but a good variety and plenty of it. (Be warned, do not go when it’s their school holidays, some guests were complaining the food was all gone!)

We went on a couple of excursions - road trip to the fishing village was great and our wonderful tour guide was knowledgeable and spoke English well. Lucky for us!
And Paradise Island was gorgeous!

However.. the snack bar was limited. They run out of food often, and most times failed to let us know within good time.

The swamp(!) surrounding part of the resort, on route to the beach was awful. It stank and was a breeding ground for mosquitoes!! I was eaten alive by them and had an uncomfortable few nights ???? - even with repellent!

The beach itself is lovely, sadly we were unable to make use of the water activities due to the weather.

The evening entertainment was ok. They love a fashion show in Cuba!

We were meant to stay for 14 nights but after 7 we moved to a different hotel and paid £££ difference. I could no longer cope with the mosquitoes and had enough of the limited entertainment.

As mentioned the staff were lovely, polite, amenable and all you’d hope for.
