The Zero George Street hotel hasn’t been granted five-stars – but only because it doesn’t have a pool. Sitting in a beautiful neighborhood just a few blocks from the hustle of Charleston-activity is an oddly named hotel – Zero George Street – that serves up a wondrous experience.
Just a nine-minute walk to the Historic Charleston City Market, less than a mile to the Charleston Waterfront Park, and a half mile to the Aquarium Wharf, Zero George Street is a cluster of historic homes – circa 1805 – brought back to a luxurious hotel-life.
Offering a total of 16 sumptuous rooms in a king and queen, the room ideal for families is the garden suite with its king bed and a pullout sofa that sleeps two. All rooms include a Nespresso coffee system, a mini-fridge (call ahead and ask that items be removed at no charge), and excellent concierge services. Wrapped into the price is a phenomenal breakfast and an elaborate wine and cheese experience in the late afternoon. Rooms receive a lovely turndown service each evening.
The property’s onsite restaurant – the Zero Restaurant and Bar – is layered in accolades including making the “Top 5 Foodie Hotel in the World” list by Condé Nast Traveler. Guests are encouraged to use the hotel’s free bikes. You won’t find a fitness room on property, but the hotel gives out passes to the upscale Pivotal Fitness, which is worth the short drive. The hotel also offers popular cooking classes. Street parking is also available.

We stayed at the property for three nights in November and it was exceptional. The property itself is so charming, the room was very comfortable and the rain shower was very nice. The property is not in the busy hustle and bustle of the french quarter, but is easily within walking distance of everything we wanted and a great easy breakfast included with the room. It’s very quiet and calm with sweet sitting areas. All of the staff was very nice and helpful. I really liked that they were able to text about plans and answer questions - that’s an easy and modern perk. I would stay here again 100% and would recommend this property to anyone. We also had dinner here on Sunday night and it was very high end with a price-point to match.

We had heard about the food at this hotel so figured we would give it a try. Chef was very inflexible and would not meet our dietary needs. What really bothered us though was the demeanor of one employee there, a manager by the name of Adrian. He seemed intoxicated when we arrived, but we didnt think much of it. As the night progressed, however, he continued using the space as as if it was his own little club and was overheard saying some pretty negligible things to some of the "regulars". I would not recommend going here.
