Snowbird headed south

by georgebB4523EW

The hotel is pretty good with a few complaints. Not the hotels fault, but the GPS takes you all over the county to get there. We finally gave up and used maps on our phone. Next time I’ll just load in the Texas Roadhouse that’s just across the street.
Reception is good as with all the staff. They have a mangers reception on Wednesday so we got some snacks and a free drink. Rooms are fine with two complaints. They are using old CFL bulbs and it is dark in the rooms. Same with the bathroom. Minor complaints and I would go back.

Breakfast was great!

The hotel's restaurant serves a marvelous breakfast, though it costs extra; I had paid for a breakfast coupon so there was no hassle about it. The coupon gives you the choice of their breakfast buffet ($8.95 without coupon, the sign said) or any order from the menu. I ordered from the menu and had a fine made-to-order three-egg omelet. The accompanying fried potatoes were especially delicious, being finely cut and mixed with green onions, peppers and chives. The breakfast was beautifully plated as well; really it was very nearly a fine-dining experience.

The room was pleasant; the bed was soft and comfortable; I am glad that Holiday Inn is bucking the recent annoying trend towards hard beds. The walk-in shower was convenient and vigorous. The towels were of good quality but the toilet tissue was surprisingly thin. My only other complaint was that although the room was very clean there was a noticeable smell of cleaning products as we entered our room. I soon adjusted to the smell, though, and it did not trigger respiratory problems for me, which many cleaning chemicals do.

I do not like TripAdvisor's recent changes, so I have been writing fewer reviews, but this hotel was so good that I felt it deserved a review, inconvenient as TA has made it to do so.
