Hotel was decent, but customer service was severely lacking. When I found out the water was going to be turned off during my stay, I asked if I could switch to the other Marriott hotel next door. I was told, "sorry I can't book you a room next door, the only thing I can do is cancel your reservation here". Really, aren't you all Marriott hotels??!! I was then told a manager would contact me. Never happened. When I questioned another front desk person the next day about being compensated for the inconvenience, I was told they would credit me with Marriott points as compensation. I told them that was acceptable, but like everything else, it never happened. It also took 3 requests to get extra pillows delivered to my room.

On top of the customer service issues, the bed was not very comfortable and the hot tub was broken the whole time we were there. I have to return to the area in December and will definitely be looking for another place to stay.

My wife and I had to travel to Newport News recently to attend an event at Christopher Newport University and decided to try the Courtyard Newport News Airport as it seemed to be located in close proximity to the university. I must admit I am very glad we did. The service from initial check-in (Thanks to Anthony) to the room itself was excellent. The room was in a perfect location and Anthony went well above and beyond to ensure I got a late check-out to accommodate our schedule. We will definitely return to this hotel should our travels take us to Newport News again. Please share my thanks and appreciation to Anthony for his efforts on our behalf.
