Extended Stay America is a popular choice for families who want the comforts of home at a budget price. Their newly remodeled rooms contain two double beds and a fully equipped kitchen that includes a full-size refrigerator, toaster, microwave, coffee maker, and stovetop. The free grab and go breakfast hits the spot, offering breakfast bars, muffins, hot cereal, and coffee, but you can opt for your own home-cooked meal in your room with a visit to the nearby grocery store. Other amenities include free Wi-Fi, a fitness center, and laundry service. The kids won’t mind the lack of a pool when they see the huge 14-screen movie theater across the parking lot from the hotel.
The hotel is also within walking distance of several casual and fast food restaurants, so you’ll find many dinner and lunch options close by. However, Amarillo is an easy city to navigate, and you can be at any location within five to 10 minutes. The downtown area, in particular, is filled with trendy eateries offering the best of Texas. For a most memorable meal, head east to the Big Texan Steak Ranch, where your dinner will be free if you can consume an entire 72-ounce steak, baked potato, shrimp cocktail, salad, and dinner roll. Before you think about food, pay a visit to the Don Harrington Discovery Center, a wonderful children’s museum with hands-on science exhibits and a planetarium. Other nearby family attractions include the Amarillo Zoo, the Texas Air and Space Museum, and Wonderland Amusement Park. Amarillo is also the gateway to Palo Duro Canyon State Park, the second largest canyon in the country. With its spacious apartment-style rooms and convenient location, Extended Stay America is a great budget choice for your family vacation in Amarillo.

We were moving from Texas to Colorado and split the trip up by staying the first night in Amarillo. This place is no-frills (breakfast is a carafe of coffee and a granola bar), but it is cheap, clean, and the staff is friendly. They allow pets (small fee), have plenty of parking (even with a trailer or for a truck), and the rooms were quiet (even though this is right off the highway).

For starters the ac was completely broken on my first room, so they upgraded me to another room in which the ac completely stopped working in a couple of hours. Not to mention the bloodstained comforter, food on the floor, and the bathtub not draining when you shower. Only positive was the very sweet reception people at the front desk. Otherwise, trust me!!! It’s better to pay a little bit more money to stay at a nicer and cleaner hotel. Lesson learned the hard way I suppose.
