Overview

The Chateau is one of three historic national park lodges in Oregon, providing a rustic retreat in an old-growth forest setting adjacent to Oregon Caves National Monument (don’t miss a cave tour). Built in 1934, the six-story log cabin-style Chateau houses 23 rooms (reserve early), plus a restaurant, gift gallery, and large lobby with a double fireplace and board games. Guests will feel like they’re stepping back in time here. Each of the rooms offers unique charm, some with more space than others. Choose from two doubles, one queen, or a two-room family suite. The family suites feature one queen plus two twin beds or three queens. The Chateau’s vintage dining room serves dinner only; reservations are suggested. The 1930s-era Caves Café serves old-fashioned malts and American fare, and the Gallery Deli provides snacks and sandwiches. The property includes trout pools, waterfalls, a campfire circle, and hiking trails. The Chateau is seasonal, open from May through October, and there’s no TV, Wi-Fi, or cell coverage.

Delightful Trip

by Explorer78455

I just spend 2 nights at the historic hotel (9/18) right before it closed for the season and 2 years for renovation. I loved the uniqueness of the hotel and the quiet with no phones, no TV, no Internet. Some people might not appreciate this luxury, but I was delighted. The food in the cafe was good and in the dining room was ok, with the exception of the marionberry cobbler, which was outstanding.

Having local people as staff added a lot of knowledge about the area and alternative activities. The hiking trails were nice, not too challenging, but well maintained abd beautiful in the fall.

Stayed in room #201 by the pond and Waterfall! View of Cave Entrance, Waterfall- just lovely. Room Historic and very relaxing. Staff and Service the Best! The Dinners are beyond delicious, and very creative! The wildlife deer walk right up the steps to the cave entrance and you just enjoy all the lovely forest and outdoors. The 20 mile drive to the Chateau and caves is just unbelievable beautiful! This is a must for your bucket list!
