Overview

Jackson must be one of the cutest little villages anywhere, a Shangri-la of unique shops and historic homes clustered around a village green tucked into a valley in the shadow of Mount Washington. This luxurious hotel anchors the village with a three-season resort that occupies spacious grounds by the banks of the Ellis River. For the high quality of the lodging this hotel is surprisingly affordable. It overflows with warmth, from the friendly and solicitous staff to the comfortable common areas and guestrooms.

Rooms are eminently comfortable after a hard day of skiing, with luxurious furnishings-think brocade bedspreads and velvet sitting chairs. Configurations include double rooms with queen/double and queen/twin beds. All of the rooms include a mini-fridge and flat screen TV with DVD player. Some also include extra perks such as a private balcony or patio, a Jacuzzi tub, or an electric fireplace.

Onsite activities include and outdoor swimming pool and tennis court with synthetic “omni turf” surface; a kids’ playground with sandbox and wooden castle, and a hobbit playhouse on the riverbank. In addition, the lodge is just down the street from the Storyland Amusement Park as well as the Mount Washington Auto Road and ample trailheads for hiking along the Appalachian Trail.

Pretty good!

by Cindy H

We were on a 7-state road trip and this was one of the locations that I was able to get because we went at peak season for the Fall Leaves in New England. This worked out well for us because of our driving and the Lodge is centrally located, with plenty of parking. The only drawback was we had to carry our heavy luggage up the stairs. The staff was friendly and accommodating and the minimal continental breakfast was enough to get us going although the area to sit in is small. There are grounds in the back of the hotel to enjoy as well as areas by the creek behind the hotel. They have a pool and tennis court. The bed was comfortable and we had everything we needed. A little dated but we enjoyed our stay.

Lovely place

Family stay in the lodge in October. Lovely place. Our room was on the ground floor with view over the garden and river. Autumn colours were beautiful. Comfortable beds and pub to drink / eat at walking distance from the lodge. The village centre is not far either. Bed comfortable. Bathroom a bit "old looking" but everything was cleaned and welcoming staff - family run hotel. Good breakfast. In the morning we went to the "Jackson fall" for a nice little walk. Looks like a river to start with ... go further on towards the torrent ... we climbed a few stones and had a really good time. The walk starts on the river and is near the library.
