I've traveled extensively in every level of accommodations, including dorm beds in hostels. I've also logged numerous overnights in budget motels on that stretch of 10, between New Orleans where I live now and Orlando where I grew up. I give this background to show that I'm not picky or high maintenance.
My stay last night failed on so many levels. First the good--it was clean and bug free with a nice mini fridge and microwave.
The bad:
1. No soap in the bathroom. Yes, there was shower gel. No, I don't want to wash my hands in shower gel.
2. Sandpaper toilet paper. Even my ex-military father, who laughs at people who complain about toilet paper, complained.
3. The worst pillows ever. They looked nice and fluffy, but practically disintegrated upon laying down. Every time I tried to roll over I had to re-fluff the pillow.
We didn't call to complain about any of it, because we arrived after 2am and just wanted to sleep. Breakfast looked ok, nothing special, but we didn't try it because there was nowhere to sit.
Also, what kind of hotel doesn't have CNN? Would have been nice to check the news while I was waking up every hour to fix the pillow problem.
We won't be back. Too many other, better options along the route.
