Living up to its name, the Denali Touch of Wilderness Inn gives you quiet and serene surroundings in one of the wildest places in Alaska. Nestled in a thick stand of spruce and birch trees far from the highway, the inn has 10 rooms of different sizes, but ideal for a family is the Family Unit that sleeps up to six on queen, full, twin and rollaway beds. It comes with free Wi-Fi, a DVD player and a small kitchenette that includes a refrigerator, microwave and coffeemaker. In the main lodge are several common areas, but you might just spend most of your time in the breakfast room on the second floor. The wall-to-wall windows there give you panoramic views out over the endless sea of trees. You will at least have time to enjoy the view while you eat the free home-cooked breakfast each morning.
Located about 4 miles from the town of Healy, the Denali Touch of Wilderness Inn really is off the beaten path. Kids will love the feeling of exploration as you turn off the main highway and venture down the scenic road to the inn. It may only be a six-minute drive, but it will seem like going back in time. When you must leave the solitude of the inn, it’s a quick half-hour drive to the entrance of Denali National Park, where activities and excursions abound. Don’t hang around the touristy areas for dinner, though. Drive back to Healy for great food at reasonable prices. Rose’s Cafe and Black Diamond Grill are local favorites that are great for kids as well. The newly opened 49th State Brewing Company, with the best burgers and ribs in town, is also nearby. You’ll feel right at home in the quiet and comfortable Denali Touch of Wilderness Inn. It’s an ideal choice for a family vacation in Alaska.

We booked this place after reading great reviews, but were very disappointed. It was impersonal - check in was by a note on the door; there were "do and don't" notices everywhere; a room for 2 singles was a double bed and sofa bed (which we knew beforehand) but when the sofa bed was up the bathroom door opened about 30cms; breakfast was minimal and the same stale cinnamon buns were left out for the duration in the breakfast room; the surrounds were like a construction site - gravel, trucks and machinery. On a positive, it was very quiet and the sitting rooms were very comfortable.
There was no personal welcome, no-one to give advice or suggestions for guests, and no-one there when checking out. We appreciate it was the last week of the summer season, but that's no excuse for lowering standards.

The location is perfect, 10mins from Denali bus depot, and in the wilderness but also very safe. They had the best blueberry muffins ever. Very thoughtful touches. Breakfast was good too. The B&B is beautiful with great views from the dining area. Highly recommend staying here.
