Overview

Perched high on a hill several miles from the entrance to Denali National Park, the Grande Denali Lodge has commanding views of the Nenana River and surrounding mountains. You can enjoy those views from your room, which will have two queen beds and room for a crib or rollaway, or from the expansive deck that wraps around the main lodge. There are also six secluded cabins available, if you’re looking for a bit more privacy. Amenities in both rooms and cabins include a microwave, refrigerator, coffeemaker, and free Wi-Fi. There’s no free breakfast, but the onsite restaurant, Alpenglow, serves up a huge breakfast buffet each morning at a reasonable price. It’s also a great choice for lunch and dinner. If you want to mix things up, there’s a nice variety of restaurants in the immediate area, from fast food to fine dining.
With its prime location above the Nenana River Canyon, you’ll be close to every activity that the area has to offer. The lodge offers regular free shuttles to the Denali National Park Visitor Center, where you can join ranger-led hikes and kids can sign up for the junior ranger program. Local tour companies will pick you up right at your hotel for a full day of exploration in the park. Popular excursions include a guided Jeep Safari, river rafting and a visit to a dog sled kennel. With its incredible views and cozy cabins, the Grande Denali Lodge will make great family memories on your Alaska vacation.

Probably not the nicest lodging in Denali, but your basic lodging in Denali. The restaurant was good. We had one problem. The toilet wouldn’t flush when we arrived, but it was promptly repaired.
The window door in our room opened up onto the sidewalk/parking lot, so we had to keep the drapes closed at all times.

The staff was great, restaurant had good food and great service, but the rooms were outdated (old vinyl in bathroom with 1 dim light- very roadside motel decor. It is also so isolated and built on a site carved out of a mountain, so no grounds or outdoor areas.
For the price, definitely not worth it.
