Ann’s Gavan Hill B&B is a large house in a quiet neighborhood above downtown Sitka. The seven rooms are spread out over three floors and have various combinations of king, queen and twin beds, so you might have to book more than one to fit a large family. There are also three bathrooms to be shared by two rooms. Your host prides herself on making guests feel at home. She serves up a free hearty breakfast each morning, and gives you access to a small downstairs kitchen if you want to prepare light meals for your family. Other amenities include DVD player, free Wi-Fi, laundry room and an outdoor hot tub.
The B&B is a half-mile from the waterfront. It’s a short walk along residential streets to a wide variety of shops and restaurants in the downtown area. Family-friendly attractions, such as the Alaska Raptor Center and the Sitka National Historic Park, are also close. A few miles further east of downtown is the popular Fortress of the Bear, an educational bear rescue center. Ann is a wealth of information about the area and is happy to help plan your activities. With its convenient location, quiet rooms and huge home-cooked breakfast, Ann’s Gavan Hill B&B is a great choice for your Alaskan family vacation.

My husband and I spent four nights at Ann’s BnB and it was an ideal place for us. Ann is a remarkable woman whose life stories inspire and intrigue her guests. She provides a bountiful breakfast, clean and comfortable accommodations, and great tips for local hikes and sights.

I have stayed with Ann four times over three years, including twice this year, following ocean kayak trips. I will be back again next year.
Ann is an outstanding host with amazing knowledge of Southeast Alaska, which she shares freely. I have never stayed at a better B&B.
Thank you, Ann! See you next year.
