Overview
by Phil Corless
If you want to feel immediately at home, staying at Mrs. Potts’ B&B will start your family vacation off right. It’s an older home, built in the 1940s, and has been kept up immaculately by its owners. There are three charmingly decorated rooms, all of which only hold two people. Thus, a family of four will want to book the two upstairs rooms, which will give you two queen beds, a shared bathroom and the entire upper floor. A family of six can simply book the entire house. Mrs. Potts herself cooks up a delicious and hearty breakfast, while Mr. Potts helps you plan your activities for the day. There’s no TV, but there is a lovely sitting room where guests can sit by the fire, read a book, play games, or use free Wi-Fi.
The B&B sits on a quiet street mere blocks from downtown Kodiak, with many shops and restaurants less than a half-mile away. There is no shortage of fine dining establishments serving the freshest Alaskan seafood you’ve ever had. Several kid-friendly attractions are close by, including the Kodiak Wildlife Refuge Visitors Center and the Kodiak Fisheries Aquarium. For a full day of hiking and history, Fort Abercrombie State Park is only 4 miles away. There’s plenty to do on the island, and the friendly owners of Mrs. Potts’ B&B will be happy to help you make the most of your Alaskan family vacation.
