Ridgeway Guest House is a family-owned and operated property, offering ultra-affordable accommodations. It is located just minutes from the center of Montego Bay and right across the street from the airport, making it an ideal landing point between stops on the island. The guest house has just 10 spacious rooms, each equipped with its own balcony, private bathroom, cable television and either air conditioning or a ceiling fan, which incurs a lower nightly rate. Most rooms also have mini refrigerators, microwaves and kettles. Some rooms even have partial ocean views.
The property features tropical gardens with dozens of fruit trees that guests are welcome to pick from free of charge. It is located within walking distance of Montego Bay’s popular “Hip Strip,” where there are lots of restaurants, bars, craft markets and shops. Doctors’ Cave Beach is also nearby. Parking and Wi-Fi are offered free of charge, and airport transfers are available upon request.

Colin the owner was quite friendly. When available, he was generous in dropping us off or picking us up. The location of the guesthouse is about a 5 to 10 minute walk to the airport. It is oddly right behind the University of the West Indies. The upside to that is that there is a snack place there (as there are very few restaurants within walking distance) and that taxi drivers can easily find it. It is less convenient to Montego Bay's beaches, as it is about a 15-20 minute walk, though only a 5 minute route taxi ride as long as they are taking the "bottom road". Reservations & payment are a little less convenient than some places as you can't pay online and, indeed, have to pay in cash for less than 4 days stay. If Colin could address that, that would definitely be a bonus for modern travelers. The Wifi worked fine and the cable was great. It had an extensive set of channels. The A/C was good. The hot water was reasonably warm. The decor was slightly worn but in reasonable condition--so don't expect everything to be shiny & new, but it will be clean. In general Montego Bay is wayyyy overpriced for accommodations. With tax we paid about $80 US, which includes tax. In countries of comparative wealth to Jamaica, I've often paid half that. That said, unless you're willing to pay even more to be closer to the beach, this may be your best option. Also, places that have A/C tend to charge more as electricity is expensive in Jamaica. Overall we enjoyed our stay at Ridgeway.

We hired a taxi driver to take us on a tour of the Bay Area and we loved every minute of it. George was a fantastic tour guide and we got to enjoy a lot of points of interest. One being a fantastic drive along Queens Drive to the top of the hill we found this wonderful B&B. With beautiful 360* views of the whole area... We would love to come back for a weekend get away.
