The moment guests arrive at Hotel Catedral Vallarta, a boutique property in downtown Puerto Vallarta, they are greeted with a glass of iced “hibiscus flower” infusion – a traditional drink known as “Agua de Jamaica.” Little touches like this is what makes Hotel Cathedral Vallarta a wonderful place for a family vacation. Choosing a pillow from the pillow menu and selecting your preferred fragrance for your handmade soap are more examples of the top-notch service at this hotel. Guests also receive a membership card for “Amapa Sunset Beach Club,” where they can relax at the beach. Another perk is a local cell phone guests can use while exploring the area; for an extra charge, they can even use the phone for personal, domestic and international calls. The property is home to 21 guestrooms: 17 Superior rooms, two master suites and two penthouses. All rooms have a plasma TV, safe and wireless internet access, and suites and penthouses have kitchenettes.

We pay in advance for a reservation for one night, total amount paid $102.34. We made the mistake of putting the wrong date (yes totally our fault). But before judging let me tell you our trip took place on September 29 which is the slowest season in Vallarta due to weather conditions.
We did not find out until we arrived at the hotel that we by mistake made the reservation for the wrong date (which was the day before 9/28/19). As we were at the reception desk we were told of our mistake, needless to say I was socked. The front desk young lady (zero personality and zero people squeals) called the manager and told them the following: "I have a reservation that was set up for the 28th, they didn't show up then but want their room today, they "claim" that they made a mistake about the date on the reservation"
Long story short, she insinuated I was lying to her about my mistake. I asked her for her name and she refuse to give me her name or even at that point acknowledge my presence. She I was talking to her and she turned her back at me. I asked if that was it, if they were at least willing to give us a discount for another room and she wouldn't answer me.
My next step was to go the Hotel Posada De Rogers (where I usually stay as we come to Vallarta at least 4 times per year). I walked into the reception desk BTW much better location that Catedral Vallarta Boutique Hotel, and was giving a room and a discount since this is the slow season.
It was a big mistake for me to try another hotel, never will I make the same mistake. I am usually not one to complaint or write negative reviews as I usually loose my anger in a couple of hours, it's been 2 days and I decided to let other potential guest be aware of how terrible the customer service is.
I have an AIRBNB place an hour to Vallarta and always are recommending to my guest different places to stay in Vallarta if they want to be in the best area.
Hotel Catedral, if you see this review, please know I have NOTHING good to say about your hotel and service...…. actually lack of service.

While some will want the crowds and the amenities of a resort vacation, there is something to be said about relaxing in a small boutique hotel in the quaint old town of Puerto Vallarta. Catedral Hotel is within walking distance from the Malecon, so if you want shopping, entertainment or nightlife, it's all there! This small hotel is also close to numerous art galleries and speciality shops that offer more than the touristy trinkets found in resort stores. A walking tour through the neighborhood will take you to various restaurants, churches and points of interest. The hotel itself is beautifully decorated in artifacts from Puerto Vallarta's maritime past. Next to the hotel is a boutique coffee shop offering up a delicious breakfast at a discount for those who are guests of the hotel. I have stayed at Catedral Hotel twice and I recommend it to those who would like to see the real Puerto Vallarta in all its vintage beauty.
