Overview

Situated right on the beach, the Playa Maya invites visitors to relax by the pool, dig their toes in the sand or enjoy a meal at the onsite restaurant. Located downtown, the hotel is a quiet respite perfectly suited for families. The hotel features a number of guestroom styles ranging from a standard room to a Jacuzzi garden room. For those room types, guest room amenities include beach service (loungers, umbrellas, towels, etc.), free breakfast (three to four options), purified drinking water, wireless internet, in-room safe, a mini-refrigerator, a coffeemaker, a TV and a hairdryer. However, the Family Suite is the most family-friendly guestroom, with two connecting rooms, two bathrooms, two in-room safes, two mini-refrigerators and two coffeemakers.

As good as any

It's a bummer that to get a good beach experience, you have to pay for the access to beach frontage. It's a resort, I get it. Tourism is their major income. Again, I get it. The people are extremely friendly and after a little bit of time, you forget that you pay to go to the beach and find that it is worth it. I'd try other options but this is worth it to try also.

What could be better???

We spent our spring break at the Playa Maya this year, and it was fantastic. Best beach front property I have been to. This is a relatively small place, not a huge hotel with hundreds of rooms, and that makes it all the more special. It is literally just steps from any room on the property to sitting, walking or playing on the beach. The food at the restaurant is excellent, and the wait staff is very attentive and gracious. The rooms have everything you need, and are very well kept by the staff - super clean and fresh! We had a wonderful time, and will definitely by back!
