When we arrived at this hotel, there was a very unpleasant odour in the lobby that continued the next day. It was less present on the second floor. My room reservation had been made by my host at the event where I was speaking, and was in her name as she was paying by credit card. The desk clerk was not willing to ensure that my name was recorded on the room registry in case someone tried to reach me. I left a wake-up call for 6:30. The call came shortly after 5:30, and when I tried to call the desk to ask that they call again at 6:30 (in hope that I could fall back to sleep), no one answered. I was glad to be there only one night.

Picked hotel based on location to the arena, but taxi ride through the neighborhood and then up to the front made me very uncomfortable because the area is rough. I was pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness, the decor, and the demeanor of the staff. Someone was being trained to check us in, and I appreciated how the manager (owner?) was patient with her while also making sure we didn't wait too long. Room had good wifi connection, cable TV with actual movies, fridge, and microwave. Front desk staff (owner?) came up to personally check if we were satisfied with our room. That was a first! Maid service was punctual and thorough, so leave her a nice tip. The hotel breakfast was better than expected--choice of meat, biscuits & gravy, eggs, waffles, etc. Very quiet in spite of being next to the freeway.
