Words fail me

by Doobedoobedooooo

I stayed at the holiday inn on Governor Winthrop Boulevard in New London for three days in October 2019. With so few lodgings options in new London proper, I assumed that the holiday inn would offer some attention to detail, satisfactorily working features like the refrigerator, a respectable level of comfort with generic but appealing ambience, sensory/olfactory issues addressed, and that subtle kind of feeling you have when you enjoy the fact that you’re traveling.

I know there are some folks out there, and I mean no disrespect or judgment, for whom a bed, a toilet and a TV all in one room would be heaven on earth. What I really meant to say is that the holiday inn, in New London Connecticut, stopped at the TV/toilet/bed delivery system and seems to have forgotten what it means to supply a positive lodgings experience. I detected a faint but pervasive fecal odor in the first room they gave me and they moved me to another room where the refrigerator didn’t work. To their credit, they fixed that issue. The furniture was the cheapest and ugliest I have ever laid eyes on, and yes this counts. I was sorely disappointed by the limited number of channels on the television. If I tell you there were 40 channels I need to clarify that several channels were mindless and redundant news and weather chatter and other blather. There were two basic cable channels that ran movies, TNT and one other. Maybe it’s just me, but I thought this was a cheap and ridiculous insult.

There is a very small restaurant, La Luna, that you access from the sterile and depressing lobby. I didn’t eat there so I can’t speak for the food. I only had dessert and coffee there. I think many local types in New London go there. I was not comfortable among some of them. To give you an example, one person walked back-and-forth yelling “I hate people,” which became my cue to leave.

I would not stay here again and I don’t advise anyone else to stay here. I resent the fact that I spent money in that place.

Outdated, bad customer service

by Joy G

Very old, outdated, worn out hotel. Elevator is small and very slow, doesn’t close unless you press the close botton. Walls and floors everywhere are scratchy, need to be changed and needed an upgrade. Lighting in the room is not enough. The bathroom floors looks dirty due to lots of scratches. The toilet paper is far to reach when your sitting in the toilet bowl. No safe deposit box. The customer service is bad. They don’t clean the room everyday. I asked for some towels and soap because the cleaning lady didn’t come for the day but front desk said I have to come down to pick it up. They don’t have extra toothbrushes for emergency. Front desk staff are not helpful, not approachable and doesn’t want to be bothered at all. The hotel prices is not worth. No free breakfast . They have a restaurant inside but with the bad service, I’m sure the restaurant too is disappointing. So, I have no plan anyway of eating there.Very disappointing overall all.
