Gwennie’s has been a local favorite since the early 1970s, in part because it caters to families so well. It’s almost always packed so if you have to wait a bit for your table, spend some time checking out the early Alaska/Indian decorations, the stuffed bears, and wall-mounted animal heads. The children’s menu features inexpensive breakfast favorites like Belgian waffles with strawberries and pigs in a blanket. At lunch or dinner, kids select fried chicken fingers, fish and chips, hamburgers, or corn dogs. Mom and dad may prefer the fisherman’s platter, BBQ beef, or a bowl of chili with onions, cheese, and jalapeno peppers.
