Such a shock when we went outside at this beautiful rooftop bar! Tables were dirty, French fries on the faux grass, the whole area was in disarray. It was not crowded and we reported it to the manager on staff. His reaction was, oh sorry. We were just looking for a quick drink before dinner down the street and literally felt so disappointed! It would have been gracious of him to offer us a glass of wine in another area of The Bohemian but he clearly didn’t care. Shame on you!

We stayed five nights at the Grand Bohemian in October 2019. Overall the hotel is an adequate place to stay. However, the hotel lacks that something special and luxury feel. Here is some helpful information to help you decide about a future stay:
Marriott Titanium Recognition - $8 voucher towards breakfast per person ($16 max) per day or continental breakfast for two (coffee, English muffin with butter and Jam). You will also receive a one time $10 food and beverage voucher. No room upgrade was given. Overall, poor recognition.
Location - The hotel has a great locations in historic Charleston. Just a short walk to all major attractions.
Customer Service - Everyone was extremely customer service oriented. A special thank you to Stephanie and Bonita at the rooftop restaurant. You made our breakfast extra special!
Room - The room was larger in size. However, simple things like drawer space, adjustable shower head, a restroom fan were lacking. We also had several issues with the air conditioning that required us to change rooms. The second room had similar air conditioning issues.
Hotel Bars and Restaurants - The hotel caters to the corporate world, holding special business events daily. For obvious reasons (poor bar/restaurant/rooftop design, bad happy hour, uncomfortable lobby furniture, no hotel entertainment, etc.), hotel guest are forced to leave the hotel to drink and eat. We recommend the Belmond Thoroughbred Club, The Vendue Drawing Room & Market Pavilion Rooftop for drinks. As for restaurant recommendations, we loved High Cotton, 225 Grill, & Henrietta’s (two were hotel restaurants).
Maid Service - Daily Service was consistently late (after 4pm) and lacked attention to detail. For example, our room was never vacuumed in five days. We know this since we accidentally dropped bread crumbs the first day and they remained throughout.
The Grand Bohemian Charleston is a newer hotel that misses the mark when it comes to luxury. In our option, it borders a 3/4 star hotel. If you’re a Marriott loyalist, this hotel will meet your needs for business. However, if you’re looking for a luxury hotel for a personal vacation or special occasion, this hotel has some work to do.
