Overview

The Holiday Inn Newark Airport is located directly across the street (a highway) from Newark Liberty International Airport in northern New Jersey, just outside of New York City. The budget-friendly hotel is especially ideal for families, too, with a kids-stay-free policy for children ages 19 and under (when staying with a paying adult) and a kids-eat-free policy for those ages 12 and under at the onsite restaurant, the 450 Bistro and Lounge. Open from 6:30 a.m. to midnight daily, it serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Highchairs are available, as is room service. There’s also a cocktail lounge.

Other conveniences include a fitness center, business center, coin-operated laundry facility and free Wi-Fi.

Standard guestrooms have coffeemakers, while suites have kitchenettes with microwaves, mini-fridges and coffeemakers. Cribs and rollaway beds are available upon request.

Check-in is at 2 p.m. and check-out is at noon.

Good Clean Hotel

The hotel is located very close to the Newark Airport. It provides a shuttle service to and from the airport. The airport train station provides direct access to Pennsylvania Station in downtown Manhattan. Very convenient.

Not as good as most Holiday Inns

Lady at the front desk gave me a half hearted greeting and unenthusiastically completed the check in. Room was standard and clean. TV was a little fuzzy. Breakfast is a rip off. The buffet is $18. Other options aren’t much cheaper if you want a $4 drip coffee added to your meal. There’s no other options for eating nearby and they know it so you’re going to be paying big bucks for standard food. I stay over 40 nights a year at IHG hotels but if I need a room in Newark again I’ll probably settle for a cheaper option as this location is nothing special.
