Overview

In what looks like an oversized beachfront mansion that belongs on quiet beaches of New England, Shutters on the Beach is a beautiful oceanfront property overlooking the Pacific Ocean in Santa Monica. Rooms look more like guest rooms in a gorgeous beach home with in-room libraries, whirlpool tubs, peekaboo windows, entertainment centers and balconies. Superior and Deluxe rooms are the smallest, with a king or two double beds. Rooms become more premium with ocean views. Suites begin with the Santa Monica suite providing a king bed and a full-size sofa bed and also increase in price due to view. Two-bedroom suite options are available in the Pacific View and Beach House suites with one king bed and one bedroom with two doubles, as well as a queen sofa bed in the living room, providing space for eight guests. Onsite dining is available at one of three restaurants. Coast is idea for casual, all-day dining, as it is open from breakfast through dinner. At 1 Pico, guests can find a seasonal menu for lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. during the week, brunch from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekends, and nightly dinner from 6 to 10 p.m. The hotel’s Living Room is a comfy lounge with ocean views and light bites from lunch through late night, including weekend brunch and a dessert bar on Friday afternoons.

Well, the location can't be questioned when it comes to this hotel.
Everything is just great !
One small thing though (if you want to be picky) - the breakfast is far too noisy if you like a quiet start of your day. Sounds and feels like a busy lunch restaurant 12.00 instead of a cosy, relaxed and low-key breakfast serving as I as a residing guest would appreciate.
1st row ocean-front double is a must - what fantastic morning & evening views !
Just make sure it's on the 2nd or 3rd floor unless you like people on the boardwalk to look straight into your room...
Simply a great hotel !

the location is fabulous
they do maintain the property well
it does look as fresh as when i first stayed here 30 years ago
$55 to park your car is an usurious cost especially when you have to wait so long for the car
$150 for a breakfast for 2 when the food is adequate but unexceptional
I hate being packed like a sardine on the pool deck
the prices go up but the amenity does not
shutters are getting greedy
it is time to look elsewhere methinks
