At the Friday Harbor House, rooms are best designed for two. That said, children are welcome at the hotel (kids under 5 stay free), so if you’re bringing them along, plan to either tote along an air mattress, or, if the kids are old enough for a little independence, book adjoining rooms. Some units do feature a pull-out sofa, so call to inquire about that. All rooms include a mini-fridge and coffee maker (no microwave), a jetted tub for two, and high-speed Wi-Fi.
Even with the lack of family rooms, there’s plenty to make the hotel an attractive option: you’ll enjoy fantastic views of the harbor, friendly and helpful staff, a lovely garden area, and a free DVD library. Complimentary breakfast each morning features baked goods, house-made granola, eggs, potatoes, fresh fruit, coffee, and juice. Find upscale-leaning seasonal specialties at their onsite restaurant, where the three-course dinner menu makes a perfect date night (kids may not be as enthused about the wild salmon, arugula salad, or crispy Brussels sprouts).
