Charming "Old Tahoe" style motel was just right for an outdoorsy weekend meet-up for several branches of our family. The suites are large with a separate bedroom, living room (with sofa-futon), kitchen and dining area. We could visit and share cocktails between excursions without being on top of each other in the same house. There is wifi and limited cable. The quiet residential location is a big plus, it's not right on Route 158 like many places in June Lake. We laughed about the old fashioned decor and Coleman in-wall gas heater units that looked like they were from another era but were darn good at heating up the place. No private balconies, but from the parking lot there's a view of Carson Peak and you can walk to places in town like the Tiger Bar or June Lake Brewery, and both June and Gull Lakes very easily. Good spot for pet owners who want to take the dog for strolls on quiet neighborhood streets (but you cannot leave them in your room unattended.) The ground floor units are good for older or mobility-challenged visitors. 20 minutes from the South Tufa area of Mono Lake, 30 minutes from the east gate of Yosemite, 35 minutes from Mammoth Mountain. This is a majestic area away from the madding crowds of Yosemite Valley - we will be back.

2 night stay in a King Suite (2nd Floor). Pros: Lots of space (3.5 rooms), sizable kitchen, good hot water supply, short walk to restaurants and Gull Lake dock for beautiful evening views of Carson Peak, friendly staff, pretty quiet when we were there, great location for June Lake loop, Mono Lake and eastern entrance of Yosemite NP. Cons: Slightly noisy central A/C system, sink in bathroom would not hold water (a pet peeve with hotel sink stoppers not fitting correctly), portrays itself as a "Lodge" but the big "Motel" sign on the roof tells the truth.
