The Saco Motel is a budget-friendly place to stay in Saco, Maine, close to Old Orchard Beach. Free parking and free Wi-Fi are provided, as is complimentary breakfast (pastries and coffee). There’s also an outdoor swimming pool for families to enjoy. The Saco Motel provides discount vouchers for local restaurants, too, all within a short distance of the yellow-painted, family-owned motel; in fact, there’s a sandwich shop right next door. Guestrooms, while dated, are clean and comfortable and include TVs, mini-fridges, microwaves, and coffeemakers. Rooms come with one queen or two double beds, and cribs and rollaway beds are available upon request.

This motel is in need of some upgrades; however, it was very clean, extremely quiet and the front desk was extremely helpful with maps and dinner recommendations. The new owners have a winner on their hands.

I have to admit that a motel rated at 2.5 stars with reviews of 8.2 caught my attention. But I kept coming back to it. I will admit that there is a time and place for the chain hotels with their sameness. But that was not what we wanted for this weekend. I had noted on one review that there was an issue with a late arrival. I decided to cakk first and depending on the response, make the reservation. I called and told them that we would most likely arrive after midnight. I was told that was not a problem and was told that on our travel day they would contact us to let us know where to find the key.
On out travel day I called in the morning to inquire about the key and was told where to find it. I was good to go. That evening as we were enroute we received a followup call to confirm that we were all set for our late arrival. When we arrived the keys were where they were supposed to be. We let ourselves in and found a very nice room including, coffee maker, refrigerator and microwave (not noted on their website). They also have coffe and pastries outside the office.
The beds are very comfortable, and obviously quite new. The bath, while dated is meticulously clean. The staff is very nice and helpful.
Remember this is an older motel and the rooms are sized accordingly.
I told our son, who lives in Saco to recommend the Saco Motel to people that come to visit him. It is a great value and we felt right at home.
So, is a 2.5 star motel with a review rating of 8.2 worth it? Definitely!!!!! It should be rated higher than 2.5 stars. The reviews will take care of themselves.
We will be returning when we come to visit our son and his girlfriend.
