I can't think of a better way to spend a family reunion. We booked a year in advance (necessary) to celebrate our parents' 50th anniversary and had five ranch cabins among the 16 of us. What a treat to have our own places to sleep but to also share common outdoor spaces and all meals. It was a true treat to have a family getaway free from discussion on who is cooking, who is doing dishes, etc. Everything was provided and everyone felt like they had a true vacation.
Some highlights: The ranch kindly lent us a minivan for our stay. It helped us coordinate explorations: Agnes Gorge was an easy 5 to 6 mile hike for all of us (saw a bear!). Even the five year olds made it. A mile down the road from the ranch we walked to a great spot for the kids to play in the river and catch little fish in their nets. Another day we drove to the bakery and jumped off a public dock into the lake. Next time we'll rent bikes and a side by side. There's so much to explore and do. The kids played field games out in the pasture in the front of the ranch, enjoyed the play structure, and spent hours exploring. It's a fantastic set up for families. While we were there, every cabin was booked, but it still was very quiet and peaceful---I haven't experienced quiet like that in a long time. We loved talking to other guests about their own travels, adventures, etc. Quite a few folks coming off the PCT. We'll be back for sure!
Tip: Cabins 13 and 14 (Bill and Mary) are smaller but have small fridges/kitchenettes and more private patio spaces away from the other cabins/tents. Ours was more than enough room for my family of three, and we were grateful to keep some of our own snacks on hand. Cabins 9/10 are spacious with two twins beds in the loft and a big bed and a futon downstairs. We gathered in the evenings on one of the decks of those two for singalongs, stories, and games.
