Overview

The location of Lafayette’s Oceanfront Resort in Wells, Maine cannot be beat — it is so close to the ocean that at high tide, the waves have been known to crash up against the fence that separates the hotel from the sea. Some rooms even include tiny windows that let in just enough air and sound to enjoy the ambience.

Of course, any room is great at this oceanfront property that’s divided into nine distinct buildings. Whether you’re facing the ocean or other buildings, you’re within steps to the beach, onsite seafood restaurant, swimming pool and the local Boardwalk Arcade.

And when it’s time to go out and explore beyond the resort (you certainly don’t need to do so), you’ll be happy to know you’re just 15 minutes from Kennebunkport in one direction, and Ogunquit and York the other way. Welcome to Southern Maine.

Room Information

Find the Best Price for Your Stay

Don't be deterred by the buildings' hallways as you walk to your room. While they're admittedly reminiscent of the hallways in a dorm building, they lead to comfortable, modern rooms (149 total) with flat-screen TVs (50-inch monitors in some!), Keurig coffeemakers, and mini-fridges.

Mostly all bathrooms have shower/tub combos, as well- a growing rarity at many hotels across the U.S. Best of all, many rooms come with patios or balconies from which to take in the views of Wells Beach.

Rooms
In most cases, rooms come with one king, two queens or two doubles, with the option to add a rollaway bed or crib in many units.

Houses
The hotel has a few vacation rentals with fully equipped kitchens, washers and dryers. Guests of these accommodations enjoy all the perks of the hotel.

Best place ever!!

by Roadtrip3676MK

This is my husband's and my favorite hotel ever, ever, ever! We live close by inland, but have special needs children that may require our need to be home in a jiffy if anything should go wrong with the kids. This way we're close by, but we always feel like we're a world away!
There are roughly 5 properties associated with this hotel and we've stayed in all of them ever since 2010 (sometimes we go to this hotel twice a year)!
Our favorite is the Motor Inn, 2nd floor but 1st floor is nice too. Right on the beach! 2nd floor rooms have their own balconies, 1st floor has a walk out cement patio. So relaxing! Rooms are beautifully decorated! Little Restaurant right next door (Forbes) has very descent food and the hotel gives you complimentary coffee from there each day you stay. Main hotel has indoor pool with amazing waterfall hot tub. High season, they usually require 3 nights minimum, while off season or mid season, 2 nights usually required. Complimentary plush Terry cloth robes are given in Motor Inn and I believe the Main Hotel. So romantic! Wonderful restaurants close by. Bilky's Chowder House is a walk away and also do takeout to bring back to the hotel. Great for couples but also wonderful for families; as we've done both. Friendly accommodating staff who always try their best to meet and exceed your needs. Bring a Roku or Fire stick as there isn't HBO, Netflix, Prime. Etc.
Highly recommend this place.

Wish their cottages we’re oceanfront

Family Activities

Beach
The beach takes the spotlight at this oceanfront property, and staying here gives you the advantage of staking your spot out early in the day before the crowds come. Plus, guests avoid beach parking fees.

Beach
The hotel has an indoor pool that's nice when it's time for a break from the sun and sand, or when the kids need a change of pace. Situated next to a hot tub, the pool is open 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Family Dining

Forbes Seafood Restaurant & Take-Out
The hotel's onsite restaurant reminds us of a combination pool bar and diner, with fresh seafood and casual favorites like burgers and wraps. Kids' options are available. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Planning & Tips

All About the Extras
Wi-Fi
Guests of the resort enjoy complimentary Wi-Fi.

Fitness Center
The hotel has a small fitness center with cardio machines and free weights. It's open all day.

Laundry
The hotel has two laundry facilities for cleaning wet bathing suites and other dirty clothes. They are coin-operated.

Library
In the lobby, you'll find a wide assortment of books and magazines, free for guests to rent and enjoy during their stay.

The Art of Smart Timing
Summer is the most popular time to be at Lafayette's Oceanfront Resort and in Wells, Maine, though winter can also be a popular time for local families experiencing cabin fever.

Getting There
If flying, see if you can get a flight into Portland International Jetport, less than an hour away. Otherwise, you'll want to consider Boston Logan International Airport, about 1.5 hours away.

Getting Around
You don't need a car to get around the resort, but will want your own vehicle to get around Wells, as everything is spread out and there isn't a downtown area. For downtown shopping, restaurants and more beaches, head to Ogunquit or Kennebunkport.

For Mom and Dad
After the kids settle down for the day, take a moonlit stroll along the beach, or take advantage of adults-only swim time from 10 to 11 p.m.
