Overview

Sitting to the south of Charlotte, ten minutes to SouthPark Mall and 15-minutes to Uptown, is a 4-star sprawling resort that delivers an incredible getaway for the weary (and teary).

Here’s what you’ll find at the Ballantyne: an indoor and outdoor pool and (indoor) whirlpool (wreathed in fronds and upscale chaise lounges; a full-service, swanky spa and salon; tennis courts; a golf course (lessons, too); and plenty of convenient dining.

Guestrooms boast flatscreen TVs, a mini-fridge, and marble bathtubs. Several rooms come with spacious balconies with lovely golf course views, while some suites have full kitchens. A palatial cottage (3,670 square feet) boasts a gourmet kitchen, multiple bedrooms, and more luxuries.

The Ballantyne’s Gallery Restaurant infuses modern American dishes with a southern vibe. The resort also offers dining in the Golf Pavilion (seasonally), the Veranda (coffee and pastries in the morning; cocktails and light fare later in the day), and the Gallery Bar.

There is a charge for Wi-Fi, but complimentary internet is available to all SPG members (free program). Ask about benefits when you make a reservation.

Wedding weekend

Spent a lovely October weekend her to attend a friend’s daughter’s wedding. Arrived late on a Friday evening with our family of 4 and I was told I was being “upgraded” to a golf course view room with one King bed. I told them that was not an upgrade since I had made my reservation in May and had specifically requested 2 queen beds. It was obvious that they had given all the wedding rate rooms with queen beds away. I insisted on 2 queen beds and with 2 teenage boys a King bed even with a rollaway bed was not going to work. Miraculously, they found a room.
The rest of the weekend went off without a hitch. Beautiful grounds and pool, though I didn’t use it. Room was pretty standard with one bathroom. The lobby bar and gallery restaurant were great places to hang out and drink or grab a small snack. Free coffee in am in lobby, no coffee maker in your room. Wish I had time to go to the spa which looked wonderful.
The rose garden area was a beautiful setting for the wedding and the ballroom for reception was beautifully decorated that evening.
A lovely setting for a wedding and nice place to stay.

good place for vacation

Perfect location to spend your vacation: the area around is very green; it’s close to the highway but you don’t hear car noise while you’re in the room; there are restaurants and 24-h shop nearby; there is golf academy right next to the hotel.
It’s about 30 min drive from Charlotte downtown and airport.
Hotel also has spa and pool.
Hotel staff was very friendly, we were also allowed to do check out at 1pm instead of standard 12pm.
Hotel lobby and rooms looks luxurious.
We got a spacious and recently renovated room. It was very clean.
A comfortable king size bed, I had a very good sleep here.
All facilities like bathrobes, slippers, hairdryer, shampoo&conditioner, safebox, minibar, bathroom scales, hangers, iron are here. It’s a pity there’s no coffee machine or tea pot in the room. 24h room service.
A disappointing thing - the walls are very thin and you can hear all the activity in the hall which starts quite early.
Another disappointing notice that housekeeping didn’t changed dirty bed sheets (chocolate spots), just made up the bed and that’s all.
Free WiFi speed was good: download 1,55 MB/s, upload 1,14 MB/s. If it’s not enough for you, you can buy a premium option for 4,95 USD per day.
Valet parking is free.
You can also enjoy afternoon tea from Wednesday to Saturday.
I definitely recommend staying here and I’ll stay here again with pleasure.
