I absolutely enjoyed my stay here with my boyfriend this past September. It was our first time in Woodstock and we were looking for a convenient location and the Shire is perfectly located near the center of town. There is a grocery store right across the street for any last minute things I needed. The front desk was extremely friendly and even upgraded us to a corner king suite on the first floor. When we arrived at our room, THE VIEW WAS INCREDIBLE. The fog rolling in along the river with double sided windows was so beautiful. The place was very quiet and the beds were also quite nice. The bathroom could use a bit of updating but overall, everything was great. I especially loved the free coffee and tea on the upper porch in the mornings and the open space along the back of the place along the river with Adirondack chairs. Loved our stay and look forward to coming back!

We stayed here as we took a driving tour of the area. We found the bed to be saggy, the room decor needs a remodel. Fixtures looked and felt worn. Even the clerk who checked us in seemed disinterested. The location was great. There are other places in town that we would have selected had we known what we know now.
