Overview
by Courtney Elko
Put-In-Bay Resort Hotel & Conference Center is located in the town of Put-In-Bay on South Bass Island, which is in Lake Erie. A 20-minute ferry (that can hold vehicles) is needed to reach the island and the hotel and the mainland ferry terminal is about 35 minutes to Cedar Point Amusement Park.
This summer seasonal hotel is ideal for families during the week. Sunday through Thursday, families will love to swim in the outdoor pool and play in the fountain splash pad at the villas or rent a golf cart to maneuver around town. Friday and Saturday, however, can be more of an adult crowd at Put-In-Bay Resort. Families and children are always welcome, but don’t be surprised if there is bit more of a party atmosphere during the peak summer weekends.
The suites and villas are perfect for larger families or groups with multiple bedrooms and bathrooms. Free Wi-Fi and free breakfast are also ideal for families to enjoy while visiting Put-In-Bay Resort Hotel. The hotel’s downtown location allows families to park the car and go explore the town on foot, bike or golf cart.
This hotel also owns and operates Bay Lodging Resort, about a half-mile away, and guests are welcome to use the amenities at either hotel.

A two-bedroom suite, with four queen beds in two bedrooms, is also available. Two sleeper sofas can be found in a separate living room area, as well as a kitchenette/wet bar with a microwave, mini-fridge, sink and counter. There are three televisions in these suites, as well as a bathtub in the bathroom. The two-bedroom suites sleep eight people.
Villas
The recently constructed villas, located in a building across from the main hotel building, feature four to five bedrooms and can sleep anywhere from eight to 12 people comfortably. The three-story villas feature a full kitchen, with everything except an oven, a separate living room and multiple bathrooms, some of which have tubs. All of the beds featured in the villas are queen beds. A balcony is also featured on multiple floors of the villas.
The 12 villas overlook a communal courtyard area that only villa guests are permitted to use. The courtyard features a small fountain splash pad, tables and chairs and grills. What a ripoff! Our group paid about $800 a night for a crummy hotel room that would’ve been only $100 a night during the week - and only $50 in any other city. We constantly questioned whether there were bed bugs, the room was dirty, the only nice amenity was a full size fridge

Get Out begins at front desk when you learn that the rate quoted is not the rate you will pay ( think mid-town Manhattan rates) - don’t think of getting money back as this is the Get Out Bay Resort - and while you were asking for explanation the good service people at front desk were checking you in - add $50 to already charged card if you leave now - additional extras include no hot water and mold in our room - we received $25 vouchers for Tiki Bar where we were charged $ 22 to use them - no choice gratuity

While music is often playing at the pool area, a DJ is onsite at the pool on most weekends.

Getting There
Put-In-Bay is the main town on South Bass Island, which is located on Lake Erie, across from Sandusky and Port Clinton, Ohio. A ferry or private plane is required to reach South Bass Island from the shores of the mainland. Miller Ferry, which allows vehicles, is about 5 minutes to Put-In-Bay Resort Hotel and the Jet Express Ferry, which does not allow vehicles to Put-In-Bay, is about 2 minutes away. The ferry rides are about 25 to 40 minutes. Cleveland International Airport is about an hour and 15 minutes to the Miller Ferry dock on the mainland.
Getting Around
Walking, bicycling or riding a golf cart are the prominent modes of transportation on South Bass Island and Put-In-Bay. The hotel rents both golf carts and bikes to guests directly on the property or other rental services can be found in town. As parking is very limited throughout the island, driving a car is permitted, but not always convenient.
For Mom and Dad
Mom and dad will love the swim-up bar at the outdoor pool, as well as the large hot tub.
