In hopes of inspiring the next generation of explorers, Lindblad Expeditions-National Geographic has launched a new exploration-based family program, National Geographic Global Explorers. Designed with activities and programs for explorers 18 years and under, the group experiences will give young travelers first-hand experience with National Geographic teams.
The new explorer program comes as Lindblad commemorates the 50th anniversary of Lars-Eric Lindblad’s first citizen explorer expedition to the Galapagos in 1967. Offer the first National Geographic Global Explorers program in the Galapagos, families can sail with the new 96-guest National Geographic Endeavour II or the 48-guest National Geographic Islander adventure cruise ships.
“My father, Lars-Eric Lindblad, was a lifelong explorer and involved me at a very young age. Those experiences made an indelible impression on me, and informed the person I am today,” said Sven Lindblad, president and CEO, Lindblad Expeditions. “Children love to explore, and our goal for this program is to help inspire our next generation of global explorers to make a positive impact on their world.”
Kid explorers will snorkel with sea lions, hike volcanoes and walk among the Galapagos giant tortoises, keeping field notebooks, maps and wildlife checklists. Different challenges will turn learning into a came, and kids will work as teams and independently.
