River cruises are known for their leisurely approach and ability to see multiple ports on a slow-paced vacation. Now, luxury river cruise line, AmaWaterways, plans to create a more modern and active river cruise with the development of its new ship, AmaMagna.
AmaMagna, the largest river cruise ship to be launched in 2019, will be twice the width of standard river cruises in Europe. Although the ship will accommodate less than 200 guests, it will feature large living spaces, multiple dining options, more onboard activities and an open-water sports platform with canoes, zodiac boats and recreation equipment for guest use on the rivers — a first for river cruises.
AmaMagna’s larger sundeck will also offer more amenities, including a large, heated swimming pool and hot tub, a large spa area, and an expanded fitness center with the ability to host group classes.
Construction on the new ship is currently underway, with a Danube river itinerary in 2019 planned for its launch.
