The New Jersey Shore’s Wildwoods kicks off summer with a Memorial Day Weekend celebration that includes the 32nd Annual Wildwoods International Kite Festival. From the official “Unlocking of the Ocean Ceremony” taking place on May 26 to the largest kite festival celebration in North America through May 29, the Wildwoods is welcoming summer with four days of activities.
The kite festival kicks off on Friday at 9 p.m. with an illuminated night kite fly on the beach before continuing over the weekend from 9 a.m. daily. The event will feature the East Coast Stunt Kite Championships, the Fighter Kite Competition, the Candy Drop, the Running of the Bols, and a Learn to Fly Field. Kit exhibits and workshops will be held right on the beach. On Monday, May 29, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the event concludes with the World Indoor Kite Competition with kite performances choreographed to music.
