Maurice Sendak, illustrator of the classic and award-winning “Where the Wild Things Are” and “Little Bear,” will receive a commemorative exhibition in Cooperstown, New York, this April. “50 Years, 50 Works, 50 Reasons, Maurice Sendak: The Memorial Exhibition” will open April 1, 2017, at the Fenimore Art Museum.
This commemorative exhibition will include many highlights from his 60-year-long career, including original illustrations from his books; set design and costume sketches; animation reels; posters; sculpture; and more. The 50 works of art will be accompanied by quotes from 50 celebrities, renowned illustrators, friends of the artist, politicians, and other personalities who will share their thoughts about Maurice Sendak and how he inspired them, influenced their careers, and touched their lives.
The exhibit will run through May 14, 2017 at the Fenimore.
