For families looking to enjoy the snow in Pennsylvania this upcoming winter, the Pennsylvania Ski Areas Association is making it easier with a First-Time Ski/Snowboard program.
Available for $49, those new to skiing and snowboarding, including kids, can receive beginner lift tickets, group lessons and rental equipment. The program is available at Bear Creek Mountain Resort in Macungie, Big Boulder in Blakeslee, Blue Knob Resort in Claysburg, Blue Mountain Resort in Palmerton, Cambelback Mountain Resort in Tannersville, Elk Mountain in Union Dale, Hidden Valley Resort in Hidden Valley, Jack Frost Mountain in Blakeslee, Liberty Mountain Resort in Carroll Valley, Montage Mountain in Scranton, Mystic Mountain at Nemacolin Woodlands in Farmington, Roundtop Mountain Resort in Lewisberry, Seven Springs Mountain Resort in Seven Springs, Shawnee Mountain in Shawnee-on-Delaware, Ski Big Bear n Lackawaxen, Ski Sawmill Family Resort in Morris, Tussey Mountain All Seasons in Boalsburg, and Whitetail Resort in Mercersburg.
Most resorts begin limited age lessons of age 8, with the following exceptions: Mystic Mountain and Roundtop begin at age 4; Camelback, Roundtop (snowboarding) and Shawnee begin at at 6; Big Bear, Sawmill and Shawnee (for snowboard) begin at age 7; Big Boulder and Jack Frost begin at 9; Blue Knob begins at 12; and Tussey Mountain does not have a beginning age limit.
Limited quantities of First-Time Ski/Snowboard tickets are available and sign up must be received online by Dec. 30, 2016. Purchase is limited to five vouchers per household. Vouchers may be used anytime, including weekends and holidays. Fourth and fifth graders can also ski for free in Pennsylvania with a PA Snowpass. Available to all kids who ski in Pennsylvania, regardless of residence, the passes may also be ordered online.
