America’s 93rd annual National Tree Lighting will take Thursday, Dec. 3, with an all-star lineup. The national kickoff to the holiday season will launch at 4:30 p.m. with an exclusive pre-show that includes musical performances by Fall Out Boy, Tori Kelly, Andra Day and Trombone Shorty.
Launched in 1923 by President Calvin Coolidge, the National Tree Lighting takes place at the White House’s President’s Park, park of the National Park Service. The event will be showcased on public television throughout December, and visitors to Washington, D.C., will have a chance to see the lighted Christmas Tree throughout December. The living tree is a Colorado Blue Spruce that grows in the park and can be seen year-round.
The National Park Service is currently offering the limited edition, 2015 White House Christmas Ornament, which will honor President Coolidge. Portions of the proceeds directly support the National Park Service.
