The National Gingerbread Competition has been hosted at Asheville’s Omni Grove Park Inn for nearly 25 years, and is so popular that Omni Hotels and Resorts has decided to take it to the road.
The festive event will expand to Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa in Austin, Texas and Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California.
Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa
“Austin: Live Music Capital of the World” is the competition theme at Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa. Gingerbread creations are expected to include famous performers, music venues and instruments. Submissions will be judged on Dec. 2, followed by dessert and a ceremonial holiday tree lighting.
Omni La Costa Resort & Spa
The Omni La Costa Resort & Spa doesn’t have a specific theme for the event, but encourages artists to participate. The competition will be judged on Dec. 5, and will also be followed by a tree lighting ceremony.
Omni Grove Park Inn
Of course, the flagship display continues at Omni Grove Park Inn. It’s open to the public Monday to Thursday, and reserved for guests Friday to Sunday until Jan. 1.
