Nearly three decades after New York City‘s famed Rockaway Playground closed, a new amusement park has opened in its place.
Beach Channel Playground, located on Beach 79th Street, near Beach Channel Drive in Queens, pays homage to the original park with Skee-Ball and a jungle gym that resembles a Ferris wheel. Other features include a sprayground, swings, climbing wall and fun house.
The playground, part of the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation, is free of admittance.
