This historic lakeside resort in South Lake Tahoe offers spectacular views of the lake, plus a wealth of low-tech family activities in the great outdoors. Reserve a cozy cabin or a room in the motel-style Inn or old-fashioned lodge. RV and tent camping in season is also an option and a great way to fully immerse in nature.
In the summer, the resort’s onsite marina rents all sorts of watercraft, including motorboats, kayaks and standup paddleboards. There are miles of safe, paved paths for cycling and hiking, as well as an outdoor pool to enjoy this time of year, too. Winter blankets Camp Richardson in mounds of the fluffy white stuff, so it’s the perfect place to snowshoe come winter.
There’s a restaurant and coffee shop onsite, plus an old-fashioned ice cream parlor to enjoy in the summer. The general store is open year-round for simple provisions.

I stayed at the "camp" several years ago in one of their winter cabins. My studio cabin was less than 200 yards from the beach. Great view of the lake from the dining table. Off season is great! Lots of stars out at night. I had access to the "hotel's" hot tub, too. Camp Richardson is off the beaten path but, it's only about twenty minutes to Stateline. Major shopping area is 5 miles distant.

Went on a camping and kayaking trip with friends and family at Badger Pass campsite at Richardson resort. Stayed for 4 nights in tents in 2 campsite next to each other. One telltale sign that I ignored was bear scat just a few feet from my tent. This manifested in a wild night of folks yelling, blaring car horns and alarms due to bear sighting. Went on all night long. Also our camp was on a path to the main road that everyone takes to the beach. Even with posted signs saying private campsite, folks are waltzing through at anytime of the day. Kind of unnerving to have a family carrying floats and beach gear pass through while we are having dinner. So early morning at breakfast a bear decided to grace our camp. Luckily it went next door and snatch bread from a table while a family was having breakfast. So on the camp review, place was decent for a campsite, bathrooms were clean and staff was friendly. Wonderful place to kayak to Emerald Bay. Would recommend carrying bear spray just in case though.
