According to the 2014 Hotel Guest Satisfaction Study, conducted by JD Power and Associates, travelers across Canada and America are happier with hotels than they’ve been in years. They’re particularly pleased with Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, naming it the No. 1 Luxury Hotel, followed by Ritz-Carlton (which held the top title for four consecutive years prior to 2014).
In the Budget Hotels category, Microtel Inn and Suites by Wyndham holds the top spot; Red Roof Inn and Days Inn are No. 2 and No. 3., respectively.
Guests were asked to rate hotels by seven factors: reservation; cost and fee; check-in and check-out; guestroom; food and beverage; hotel facilities; and hotel services.
Other survey results reveal guests are most impressed by hotels that offer innovative concepts. They’re disenchanted with hotels that are “environmentally careless,” however, and, not surprisingly, their biggest gripe is dirty rooms.
