Crater Lake National Park is offering four car-free days on East Rim Drive this summer, June 21 and 22, and Sept. 20 and 27. The popular event, now in its second year, is likely to become a regular affair, held each June (depending on snow) and September.
Visitors can park at Cleetwood Cove and the Steel Visitor Center in June. In September, the vehicle-free route will be extended to start at North Junction. Parking areas will fill up quickly, and normal park entrance fees apply ($10 per car; $5 per motorcycle, bicycle or pedestrian).
Crater Lake is the deepest of its kind in the United States, and considered one of the Seven Wonders of Oregon.
